The Building Excellence capital program enables Seattle Public Schools to continue the construction of new school buildings and new additions and major renovations to existing buildings, ensuring every student a safe and productive learning environment.
Planning is currently underway for Building Excellence IV (BEX IV). This six-year levy will replace the expiring BEX III bond, and taxes would be collected over a six-year period starting in 2014 and ending in 2020.
Potential projects are selected using four important criteria:
The School Board will vote in October 2012 on a final list of construction projects to include in the levy package. The approved BEX IV levy package will be submitted to Seattle voters in February 2013.
